About This Event :
The camp is designed to help boys and girls ages 12 to 18 improve their skills in track and field events. Our world class staff is qualified to teach all skill levels from beginners to elite and veteran athletes. All are welcome!

Head Coach - Camp Co-Director Fred LaPlante is the Head Coach of Michigan Men’s Track and Field program. Over his 32 seasons, LaPlante has contributed to 17 athletes earning Olympic berths and has coached 25 national champions and 77 All-Americans. His head coaching success includes track and field teams that finished second at the NCAA Indoor meet, third at the NCAA Outdoor meet and seventh at the NCAA Cross Country Championship.
LaPlante's main focus has been the development of the Wolverine sprint and hurdle athletes which have included Big 10 and NCAA National Champions.

Field Events Coach Mohamad Saatarais the field events coach for the University of Michigan men's track and field team. During his 14 years of coaching he has coached athletes of all levels to great success. In 2008, three of Saatara's athletes competed at the Olympic Games in Beijing. Amin Nikfar, Iranian national record holder, shot put. Georgina Toth, hammer throw, and Zara Northover Jamaica, shot put. Saatara has also coached several athletes who competed at the NCAA Division I Indoor and Outdoor National Championships, USATF National Championships and USATF Olympic Trials along with International competitions and championships in the field events ranging from the throws, decathlon, and pole vault.
Events Covered The camp is designed to provide intensive training for sprints, hurdles, horizontal jumps (LJ and TJ), the throws (SP, DT, HT, JT). We will have 3 workouts per day. Other areas of training covered will include: video, weight training, flexibility, and discussion of strategy .
Events are: Sprints, hurdles, long and triple jump, high jump and pole vault, shot, discus, hammer and javelin.
Facilities / Directions Campers will train at historic Ferry Field. The complex includes multiple throwing, jumping areas and runways, along with 8 lane 400m track.

Health, Saftey and Insurance EACH CAMPER MUST COMPLETE OUR MEDICAL STATEMENT/RELEASE FORM, AND HAVE A COMPLETED DOCTOR’S PHYSICAL PRIOR TO THE START OF CAMP. Campers will not be allowed to participate in any activities without a signed doctor’s physical. NO PERSON MAY ATTEND THE MICHIGAN TRACK & FIELD CAMP OF CHAMPIONS WITHOUT INSURANCE COVERAGE. WE MUST ALSO HAVE THE INSURANCE FORM COMPLETE AND ON FILE AS WELL.
Housing and Meals Housing will be provided at the U-M Main Campus at the South Quad Dormitory. Ferry Field is a short walk from the dorm. The dormitory is under 24 hour supervision by the U-M Residence Hall Staff. Campers may indicate room mate preference. The Housing Office will assign roommates consistent with age, event area and hometown.
Meals:
Meals will be provided at the South Quad Dormitory Complex.
Registration and Fees Deposit:
There is a $150.00 reservation deposit for all campers. Or you may just pay in full. (Directions to make the balance payment, will be on your invoice/receipt.)
Resident Campers:
$450.00, covers instruction, room and board, camp shirt.
Note: no meals on Sunday, and only breakfast on Wednesday
Commuter (Day) Campers:
$350.00, instruction, camp shirt, lunch and dinner Monday to Wednesday. Note: housing and breakfast on your own.
Group Registration Discount:
Campers registering in groups of 5 or more will receive a $20 discount.
What to Bring All practice gear, including clothing, appropriate shoes and sunscreen. Toiletries, towels, bedding and blankets. You are also welcome to bring electric fans.
Throwers:
Please bring throwing implements and shoes. Implements will not be provided.
Camp Check-in/Check-out Schedule Check-In:
Sunday, (noon) July 15, 2012: Report to historic Ferry Field. Be sure all forms and fees have been sent in or are with you at the check-in.
Rules and Regulations ALL CAMPERS WILL ABIDE BY THE RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE U-M SUMMER SPORTS CAMPS. ANY ACTIONS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE OR DETRIMENTAL TO THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF THE CAMPER, OTHER CAMPERS, STAFF, COUNSELORS, PROPERTY, AND EQUIPMENT WILL RESULT IN IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL FROM CAMP WITHOUT REFUND.
Cancellations and Refunds Cancellations and Refunds:
Those who paid in full will be refunded minus the $150.00
deposit with notification prior to July 9th, 2012. Refunds for
notifications after June 9th, 2012 will only be issued to those
with signed medical statement from your physician.
On Line Registration When you choose to register on line, there is a 5.5% processing fee. Upon completion you lock in your spot instantly. You print a Secure PDF Invoice of the transaction (you also receive the required forms for camp). You will receive an immediate email confirmation. This email will also contain a link for your invoice/forms should they be misplaced. This Site does not store your credit card number or use your registration information for marketing purposes for any reason!
