About This Event :Great Lakes Water Polo is the Midwest's largest and most successful youth water polo club. Founded in 1999, GLWP has trained over 300 athletes and has placed numerous athletes on Midwest Zone, Michigan High School All-State and collegiate varsity teams. GLWP has also had three athletes represent the United States on National Youth teams. And, most recently, two of our alumni, Alison Gregorka and Betsy Armstrong were members of the USA Women's Olympic Water Polo Team, which won the silver medal in August 2008 at the Olypmic Games in Beijing.

Coach Matt Anderson Matt has served as Head Coach for GLWP since December, 2002. Matt has been the Head Coach of the University of Michigan's Women's Varsity Water Polo Team since October, 2002. Prior to coaching at Michigan, Matt served as an assistant coach at Indiana and San Jose State. Matt has also served as an assistant coach on the 16u National Team and has been head coach of the National Youth "B" team. A well-respected member of the water polo community, Matt is currently serving as treasurer of the Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Association and is the Vice-Chair of the Women's International Olympic Committee.

Program Information Great Lakes Water Polo (GLWP) regularly offers Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall programs at University of Michigan's Canham Natatorium and other area high school pools. During the school year, High Schoolers generally meet 3 times a week for practice; Age Groupers (younger than high school) meet 2 times a week. Whenever possible, GLWP signs up for scrimmages - these are listed on the News section of the GLWP home page; flyers are also handed out to athletes.

Summer 2010 Age Group and High school Session Notes Practices for Players this summer will run Monday through Thursday (all groups);4:00-5:15 pm for Age Group; 1:00-2:30 pm for HS CO-ED ,OR 2:30-4:00 pm for HS CO-ED. Practices will be held: June14,15,15,17,21,22,23,24,28,29,30.Jul,1,5,6,7,8,12,13,14,15, 19,20,21,22. Practices will be at Pioneer High school unless otherwise notified.
SESSION NOTICES Please check your email accounts regularly for program and schedule notices. Messages will be sent to the email address given as the parent contact at registration.
AMERICAN WATER POLO All GLWP players must be registered with American Water Polo (AWP). High School and Age Group Players who registered for the winter 09/10 session were automatically registered with AWP. The AWP fee was also included in the Spring High School session. All Summer Players will need to pay AWP directly if they had not previously played the Winter 09/10 session or Spring 2010. (See link.)
