About This Event :Great Lakes Water Polo is the Midwest's largest and most successful youth water polo club. Founded in 1999, GLWP has trained over 300 athletes and has placed numerous athletes on Midwest Zone, Michigan High School All-State and collegiate varsity teams. GLWP has also had three athletes represent the United States on National Youth teams. And, most recently, two of our alumni, Alison Gregorka and Betsy Armstrong were members of the USA Women's Olympic Water Polo Team, which won the silver medal in August 2008 at the Olypmic Games in Beijing.

Coach Matt Anderson Matt has served as Head Coach for GLWP since December, 2002. Matt has been the Head Coach of the University of Michigan's Women's Varsity Water Polo Team since October, 2002. Prior to coaching at Michigan, Matt served as an assistant coach at Indiana and San Jose State. Matt has also served as an assistant coach on the 16u National Team and has been head coach of the National Youth "B" team. A well-respected member of the water polo community, Matt is currently serving as treasurer of the Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Association and is the Vice-Chair of the Women's International Olympic Committee.

Program Information Great Lakes Water Polo (GLWP) regularly offers Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall programs at University of Michigan's Canham Natatorium and other area high school pools. During the school year, High Schoolers generally meet 3 times a week for practice; Age Groupers (younger than high school) meet 2 times a week. Whenever possible, GLWP signs up for scrimmages - these are listed on the News section of the GLWP home page; flyers are also handed out to athletes.

Winter 2011/2012 High School Session Notes Practices for High School will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 to 9:30 pm, and Sundays from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
Practices will be held: Dec 6,8,11,13,15.
Jan 3,5,8,10,12,15,17,19,22,24,26,29,31. Feb 2,5,7,9,12,14,16.
Winter 2011/2012 Age Group Session Notes Practices for Age Group Players will be Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Practices are to be held: Dec 7,11,14. Jan 4,8,11,15,18,22,25,29. Feb 1,5,8,12,15.
GLWP (Age Group) Fall 2011 Session CO-ED Practices for Age Group Players this fall will run Wednesday 6:30-8:00pm AND Sunday 11:00am-1:00pm. Practices will be held: October 5,12,16,19,23,26,30. November 2,6,9,13,16,20,23. NOTE: NO practice October 9! Practices will be held at Canham Natatorium unless otherwise notified.
GLWP (High School and Age Group) Summer 2011 Session Practices for all players will be Monday thru Thursday 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Practices are to be held
June 20,21,22,23,27,28,29,30. (No practice on July 4th)
July 5,6,7,11,12,13,14,18,19,20,21,25,26,27,28.
All practices will be held at Skyline High School unless otherwise notified.
Spring 2011 Age Group Session Notes Practices for Age Group Players will be Wednesdays from 6:30 to 8:30 pm, and Sundays 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Practices are to be held: Mar 16,20,23,27,30. April 13,17,20,27. May 1,4,8,11,15,18,22.
Spring 2011 High School Session Notes Practices for High School will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:00 to 9:30 pm and Sundays from 11:00 am to 1;00 pm. Practices will be held: Mar 17,20,22,24,27,29,31. Apr 12,14,17,19,21,26,28. May 1,3,5,8,12,12,15,17,19,22.

Fall 2010 Age Group and High school Session Notes CO-ED Practices for Age Group Players this fall, will run Wednesday 6:30-8:00 pm AND Sunday 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Practices will be held: September 29. October 3,6,10,13,17,20,24,27,31.
November 3,7,10,14,17,21,24. Practices will be at Canham Natatorium unless otherwise notified.

AMERICAN WATER POLO All GLWP players must be registered with American Water Polo (AWP). High School and Age Group Players who register for the winter 10/11 session will be automatically registered with AWP.
